A New Biopsy

In the waiting room with my brother Jason as my chaperone getting ready for another biopsy. I was going to write more of a follow up by now, but it didn't happen. Short version, the CT scan results were not what we hoped. In just 3 months we are already seeing regrowth of tumors in various spots. Some expected in the mesentery, some on the diaphragm, but most troubling is a 2.5cm growth up on or near my left lung. No other way to put it other than that's troubling, and disappointing.

So now we are seeking more information by getting this new tumor biopsied and sent in for a detailed mutation report. Where the previous testing failed to get the full data, hopefully this time we can see an extended view and search for other potential treatments. Tomorrow I start back up again on Gleevec for the time being because the failed pathology report did at least confirm that I have the exon-11 mutation which is what Gleevec treats. When we get the report we will be looking to find a specialist for additional guidance.

I'll get back to writing a longer set of thoughts I've had over the last 48 hours since getting this news. I had hoped we wouldn't be having this discussion until next year or even later. It's disappointing for sure, but one more hill to climb in the uphill journey this all represents. We keep fighting.
